Team Requirements

This year (2019-2020), team requirements are as follows:

1.)  Annual National Membership(s): 

  • Each organization (Schools, Community Groups, Home-Schooled Students) must purchase an annual membership.  These groups can register can register with the national organization at The cost is $135 for the 1st membership, and there are discounts for multiple memberships.  Some School Districts purchase multiple memberships to take advantage of this discount.  Go to our National site for more details:

2.)  Team Registration(s):

Teams may register online with NATIONAL “Members Area” at:


  • The team registration cost is $100.00 per team and $45.00 for Primary teams.

    • All teams must be registered and paid by December 15th to avoid a $25 late fee.​


The $100 or $45 listed above includes a $25 regional tournament fee.  This fees is to help pay for custodial services, printing costs, the program, T-shirts for judges, and other miscellaneous expenses.


  • Each team is required to provide one judge and one worker for the regional competition. ***The deadline for registering JUDGES and WORKERS is DECEMBER 15, 2019.***


  • Judge must attend training (February 8, 2020) and tournament February 22nd and will only be able to see teams they are “judging.”

  • Judges are committed to one area most of the day of competition and may not be able to leave to see their team compete in another problem, so teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators make good prospects for judges. Judges are the heart of a quality tournament.


  • For us to ensure a successful experience for the participants, judges must commit to and attend the training, or teams will be penalized.

  • All judge information must be complete as of December 30th.

  • Workers will be given an assignment to work a 3 hour shift.

  • When entering team/judge/worker contact information on the state site, do not use a school district email address. When entering team/judge/worker contact information on the state site, remember to enter email addresses that get checked regularly.

Problem Clarification: February 15th of the current OM year. All teams need to check the national website for problem clarification FREQUENTLY, even after this date. National has added some clarifications in the past after the deadline, even up to World Finals. In the end, it is the team’s responsibility.
